Business + Life
I have two businesses that I am building and one that I run with a business partner. The business that currently provides me with a steady income is an insurance agency I run with my business partner, Pixie Athena (of course that's not her real name, but that is what I am going to call her in this blog). I am also trying to get a notary public + signing agent business and marketing business up and running. Of course I can't make things easy on myself so I started this blog to journal the experience of being a business owner + mom + crazy person all wrapped up in glam + punk with a dash of vintage elegance.
What My Mornings Look Like
I would like to say that my mornings start off with a workout, then shower, hair, makeup, get dressed, get coffee or tea, checking emails, making a todo list, all while checking in with my girls on their progress with getting ready.
However.........
My mornings are more like sleeping through the multiple alarms I have starting at 4am. Cursing myself for being a lazy a** for not gettign up and working out. Waking up my girls and them grunting or cursing at the fact its morning and how much they hate going to school. start the kettle so I can make coffee or tea. Quickly brush my teeth, quickly do my hair and makeup (which is just eyebrows, eyeliner, mascara, and a touch of blush). Check in with the girls on their progress only to have the snap at me about something that I choose not to listen to beauce I am checking my work emails. Then I look at the time and realize that we are late, and try to hustle us out the door as fast as possible. Complete forgetting that I had heated up water in the kettle to make coffee.
New Beginnings
I feel as though I have aloud myself to actively procrastinate and purposefully NOT do all the things that are necessary to achieve my goals. One of the many versions of myself in my head likes to speak up very loudly to remind me that this could also be "LAZY". Bbbbbbbuuuuuttttttt that is a four letter word that I do not like to tolerate. However, she .... I mean I .... may have a point. And frankly I am just sick and tire of myself, and I would like to change. Starting with my morning routine.
Ideally I would like my morning to look like this:
4:00am - get up an work out
5:00am - Shower, serum + moisturize, Hair and Makeup
6:00am - Check emails and calendars, create to do list, have coffee/tea + food, wake up girls
After that I can enjoy some social media scrolling get dressed then head out the door. All that's left to do is put this plan in action.
To hold myself accountable I am going to film this process every morning, and turn it into reels and/or TikTok posts. If your interested in keeping up with
my progress follow me on Instagram and TikTok.
Now For Work
Once I get to work I have a small amount of time where its just me in the office. This is when I finally get the coffee or tea that I had been craving and something to eat. I can slow down a bit and really focus on what I need to and what I would like to accomplish that day.
Since I perform many different roles for the different businesses I have I create different calendars for each. What ever I can pre-plan out in advance I do, and schedule it in a calendar that I create in a spreadsheet. From there I create a task list based on those calendars + what ever needs my attention from my emails.
Pixie Athena likes to write out her to do lists (especially the ones for me. She will even make a photo copy of it because I have been known to "lose" them. I am also extremely forgetful and easily distracted.) I personal like using a task list I created in a spread sheet. Its interactive and I can leave notes on the tasks that are partially completed. I've also created an interactive "Book of Business" tracker in a spread sheet that helps me keep track of renewing clients and prospects. I really like to digitize (if you will) my workflows so I can use them anywhere.
I tried to provide links to the YouTube videos that teach you how to make calendar and task trackers I like to use, but the links would work. Soooooo,

End Of The Work Day
The "after work" portion of my life is in an even bigger state of chaos than the mornings. I still have not found an evening or nightly routine that works for life. There have been moments where I found stability and flexibility that coexisted, but it turned out to be an extremely fragile system. It did not last long. I have tried my best for years to come up with a daily evening routine, but nothing has really ever worked.
However, the things I have noticed that help me to create some balance in the evenings are these:
Plan to Plan - My inner thoughts are a chaotic mess of voices. Each facet of my personality and overall being has a voice, and they (or I) like to talk
A LOT and all at once. I feel because I am this way it creates the perfect formula for absent mindedness and forgetfulness. Which is why organization and planning critically important elements in all aspects of my life. In order to stay organized and to plan I have to schedule time with myself to sit down and plan. Thus plan to plan.
Meal planning and Meal prepping - Both of these are really helpful in my day to day life as long as I follow this rule: KEEP IT SIMPLE! For example: when I am planning out meals for the week I stick to ingredients that I know, that we like, and that are easy to prepare.
Strategically placed items (making things easy to see) - If I intend to use something or do something regularly (like skin care or taking vitamins) I need those items to be placed somewhere I will see them everyday. Otherwise, I will never remember they even exist.
Alarms set in phone - Things like taking vitamins, daily medications, and so on will be forgotten about if I don't create alarms to go off at specific times on specific days. I even do this for things like when I need to sit down a plan out my week or month and so.
I don't really have a routine or schedule I am going to challenge myself with for the evening. I'm basically just going to attempt to be more consistent. However, It might be fun to write an update post about how its going.
In Closing
At the end of the day, building a business, raising a family, structuring your daily life isn’t about being perfect—it’s about showing up, eyeliner smudges and all, and claiming your space.
Some days you’re the CEO, some days you’re the chauffeur, and most days you’re a messy mix of both. And that’s okay.
If you take anything from my journey, let it be this: you don’t have to fit into the polished, buttoned-up version of “professional” to be successful. You don't have to be (what ever archetype is you may considered to be the "perfect Mom" ) to actually be a great Mom (perfection is boring). You can be bold, you can be rebellious, and you can build your own empire in a way that feels unapologetically you.
So whether you’re running your business in combat boots, sneakers, or heels—you’re still building something powerful. And trust me, your eyeliner empire is stronger than you think.
